Dennis Conatser
6th Degree Black Belt
American Kenpo

I.K.K.O. Crest

Martial History:

Mr. Conatser’s first introduction to the martial arts was in 1967 in Judo. His first introduction to Kenpo came in 1971 under the instruction of Mr. Lonny Coots. He was awarded his 1st Degree Black Belt by Mr. Coots in early 1976. That same year, he left Mr. Coots to study with Mr. Gary L. Swan. Then in 1977, he trained with Mr. Steve LaBounty. By the mid 1978, he received the rare opportunity to study directly under Mr. Edmund K. Parker. The teacher/student relationship lasted until Mr. Parker’s passing in 1990. Being Mr. Parker’s student, made him privy to the inner workings of American Kenpo. There were only a handful of people during the 80’s that had such an opportunity. He received his 5th black from Mr. Parker in 1987.

Some of Mr. Conatser’s accomplishments include;
  • 5 time Arizona state champion in forms, breaking, and sparring.
  • Placed several times in the Long Beach Internationals
  • Produced the the Arizona State Open Karate Championships
  • Produced the Fiesta Bowl Karate Classic
  • Board Member of the American Kenpo Senior Council
  • Founded the I.K.K.O. (International Kenpo Karate Organization) in 1991
Mr. Conatser Today:
Mr. Conatser devotes much of his time to the I.K.K.O. He is very active in teaching, researching, exploring, and developing all aspects of American Kenpo. He is currently working on several books on his experiences in Kenpo.
