Hi everyone,

I have been practicing kempo and self defense for about two years now, and I was wondering what are some of the kempo drills and workouts that people here on the forum prefer. I have been doing some workouts created by Loren Christianson that I think are tremendous, but I was wondering are there any kempo specific drills that people would like to inform me of? Any information of your favourite workouts or drills would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Kempofan

In reply to Kempofan,
You are really only limited my your own imagination.  All drills and techniques are made up of basics and concepts.  So if you understand why you work a special technique (example: the tech ends in a three strike combo starting at the head and working its way down) gives you the lesson of working a) multiple striking, b) Levels high, middle, low, c) stance work because your stance would have to be changed to rise up and then go down as the tech starts and stops.  So you see that all the drills help you do is work the basic or the concept.  So look for them in the technique, then let your own imagination help you to test and study.  Drills that start with a attack and your responce is to just escape, to escape and strike, to escape strike and controle, and escape takedown controle.  What ever you got in your two years of material, work on application, but remember that repeating does help to internalize.
Hope that is helpful.
