I was wondering what everyone's opinion on the following instructors is:

Larry Tatum

Jeff Speakman

Lee Wedlake

Ron Chapel

Just wanting to know everyone's thought on them as intructors and how knowledgable you think they are. Just curious.

I understand your question but it may be a heated one. I have only been to seminars or watched some of them. I do not have enough Kenpo experience to say much. Martial arts wise, they are all talented and great teachers from what I have seen. I have never seen Ron Chapel at all, so I cannot make any comments. I am interested to hear anyone comment on this subject.

Larry Tatum - No personal experience.

Jeff Speakman - I've been to a couple of his seminars back in the mid 90's. I thought he was a good instructor.

Lee Wedlake - My first kenpo and martial arts instructor (1981-82). Very good instructor. A strong eye for detail.

Ron Chapel - Only corresponded with him by email. No experience with him as an instructor.

I have been to seminars with both Mr. Chap'el and Mr. Speakman. These were held in smaller dojos, so the interaction with these gentlemen was consequently greater. I think that Mr. Speakman is very talented and his moves are good, but he is starting to place more emphasis on the "cage fighting" brought in by Trevor Sherman which I do not believe is appropriate. Mr. Chap'el has his emphasis heavily on "Sub-Level 4" techniques which are reliant on nerve strikes and chi manipulation. To my mind and opinion, the moves that I saw from him were too broadly circular to fit SGM Parker's dictum that "Big circles are big trouble."
Both of these gentlemen are skilled martial artists, the reason I have chosen to not affiliate myself with either is the attitude that both possess i.e; "I was SGM Parker's favorite student and the one in full possession of all his wisdom, I was the only one to whom was confided the direction Kenpo was to take, everybody is right, but I am more right." Again to my mind and opinion, if you are going to claim Parker lineage you acknowledge that SGM Parker expected the art to be tailored to the individual, so the notion of a particular direction for worldwide Kenpo to take is false

I do not follow the different lineages and politics of Kenpo to much. I have a very basic knowledge and am starting to learn more. I like to think that Kenpo is great because of its innovation, immagination, and individualistic teaching. You said it jdraper. A  good teacher is only as good as his worst student.

I have not had any personal experience with any of them.  I have only seen videos/demonstrations and have 'heard of them'.
Larry Tatum - very fast hands
Jeff Speakman - powerful and appears to be evolving Kenpo into more of 'fight' scenario as opposed to purely situational self defense (which I believe is good).
Lee Wedlake - I have heard a lot of good things about him as an Instructor
Ron Chapel - Not familiar with him
I would like to add Tom Saviano - Very good instructor teaching a 'no-nonsense' approach to self-defense and an excellent person.
Similar to Protege, I do not follow the politics of Kenpo.
