Hi my name is Dan O'Day. I am an active duty soldier within the U.S. Army National Guard. I have studied a bunch of arts over the past 13 years (since I was 9) on and off including Shotokan Karate, Tracy's System of Kenpo Karate, Ryu Kyu Kempo Tomari-Te (Dillman Karate affiliate), Soryu Karate-Do, ATA Tae Kwon Do, MMA/Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Kempo Jujutsu, and I plan to soon begin WKKA/IKKA/Tracy's Kenpo with a local instructor. I am a beginner, as I have never earned a black belt in any style since I have moved around too much to earn any dan rank (the longest I have been in any one school is 4 years). I am mostly interested in self defense techniques.

But the martial arts is only part of my life: I enjoy spending time with my lovely wife, Tiffany; studying the Bible, playing drums/percussion, playing the guitar and singing, and helping others learn new things. I enjoy teaching and seem to have a knack for it: I am often am assigned to training new people at church, work, in my unit, in the dojo, and abroad.

I am finishing my bachelor's degree in Management and intend to go on to Seminary and earn my Master of Divinity and work in full time ministry. It is my goal to use the martial arts to instill confidence and respect in individuals, particularly youth/teens/young adults, and to help the "handicapable" develop a better sense of self-worth. The martial arts helped me overcome somewhat severe depression in my own life several years ago and continues to give me confidence and balance today.

It's a pleasure to meet everyone and hello world!

Dan
