I started my martial arts training in 1981 in Ed Parker’s Kenpo under Lee Wedlake. Being only 16 at the time, my training lasted for a year and a half. At that time I did'nt’t have the maturity necessary for that kind of commitment. The next few years was spent experiencing the usual mistakes and successes of a young man. During that time, I was in and out of a few different martial arts systems. Some of which included; Jujitsu/Hapkido, Tae Kwon Do, and Tracy Kenpo.

In January of 1991 I decided I was ready to make a commitment to the martial arts. After a great deal of research, I decided to come back to Kenpo. I did look up Lee Wedlake's school, but found that he had moved away. So I checked several other Kenpo schools in the area. I visited the schools, spoke to the instructor's and watch their students (especially the advanced one), but did not find any with the characteristics I desired until I found Saviano's White Tiger Kenpo in April 1991. What drew me to that school was his advanced students. I observed a fire in both their training and self defense techniques that I very much desired to have.

During my training in Saviano's Kenpo, I've been exposed to several systems through seminars and training with students, of our school, who also happened to be advance in other systems. Some of the exposure includes; Jeet Kun Do, Brazilian JuiJitsu, Kali, Tai Chi and Kung Fu.

By 1994, after a lot of blood, sweat, tears, and a 7 hour 2 day test, I achieved my black belt. A day that I will always look back on as one of my greater accomplishments in life. Of course I look back on it on those cold wet days too.

Kenpo Instructor: I've been teaching Kenpo classes since 1992. I am still active teacher at Saviano's school in Addison, Il. You can usually find me there on Tuesdays and Fridays running the evening classes. I also have some experience in seminars, demos, and rape awareness classes.

Bouncing and Security: Due to the fact I worked as a bouncer and security for 15+ years, I've gained quite a bit of practical real world experience with my training. My security experience included working in a high crime environment that put me in a few hairy situations. The last place I bounced tended to put me in a physical confrontation about once a week.

I've been happily married since April of 1999 to my wonderful wife Oksana. In January of 2007, we had a new addition to the family.

Professionally, besides being an instructor, I am a web developer.
