Women’s Self Defense – 1947

This is a very cool video find of a Judo demo for women’s self defense in the 1940′s. Very interesting to see.

Enter The Dojo, Episode 2: Destroy the Groin

Here we are episode 2. Enjoy!

Enter the Dojo: Episode 1

Very funny parody of a martial arts school. The guy that plays Master Ken, is Matt Page who is a Kenpo 5.0 and Combat Jiu Jitsu practitioner. Most of us can see the kenpo influence in the comedy and takes the various quirks of kenpo, and many of the common sayings often told, into the realm of the ridiculous.

Good Old Fashioned Melee

by Zoran Sevic

There was an interesting situation that happened around 15 years ago. It was a free for all that involved half the patrons at a bar. It was complete with blood, person foaming at the mouth, a live band that kept playing during the mess, guy getting punched by a girl, beer bottles as weapons, and probably more than what I saw or remember. As the years go by, I have a harder time remembering the details. So, I wanted to publish this before old age takes it into obscurity.

Howard and the White Boys are playing. A very popular local band that had the bar packed. I’m the bouncer at the door. The band is to my left and the bar is past the band. There was a huge crowd in front of the band dancing and such. So many people in fact that getting to the bar from where I was at was problematic. My backup is Ray Long, a kenpo black belt at our school, and Mike Anderson, a kenpo brown belt at our school and one of the bar managers. Both of which, with the rest of the employees, were on the other side of the crowd. Read More

There is no Successor to Emperado

This public statement is to address any questions concerning a successor to Sijo Adriano D. Emperado, Founder and Creator of the Kajukenbo system.

If anyone, anywhere, is claiming to be Sijo Emperado’s successor now, or in the future, their claim is fraudulent and without merit.

2011 Origins International Martial Arts Festival at Disneyland Resort

The upcoming Origins International Martial Arts Festival at Disneyland offers Kenpo a chance to really showcase our art and to raise funds for the RFKC.

Mr. White has volunteered his time to be the Director for the Kenpo Divisions and has generously agreed to donate all his proceeds to the Royal Family Kids Camp. As far as we know he is the ONLY Discipline Director who will be donating his proceeds to charity.

We are hoping that the Kenpo Community will continue to come together and showcase our art while supporting this great cause. Key members of the Bob White Invitational Team will be assisting Mr. White and will try to throw a smooth event. In order to get feedback, we have asked many Kenpo leaders to be on an Advisory Board for the Disney Event. The response has been very positive and as of today the Advisory Board consists of the following members:

Steve LaBounty
Ron Sanchez
John Sepulveda
Eddie Downey
Sergio Correa
Gilbert Velez
Rich Hale
Jeff Speakman
Tom Kelly
Ron Chapel
Larry Kongaika
Dennis Conatser
Paul Dye
Brian Duffy
Ted Sumner

Information on the event can be found at http://originsevents.com/2011originsinternational/index.html

We hope that the Kenpo Community will join us and help have a great event. The more participation we have the more kids we can help. This isn’t about any one person making a profit. It’s about all of us making a difference.

Mr. White and I will be at the Long Beach IKC this weekend. We hope to see many of you there and discuss how we can work together.

Respectfully yours,
Vishal

Power Strike Seminar – Oak Lawn, Illinois

Learn about the power strike that took down 6’8” 600+ lbs Sumo fighter in UFC 3.

John McSweeney created a unique method of striking that combined his knowledge from old Parker Kenpo and Crane style Kung Fu. It was further refined by his student, Tom Saviano, founder of the White Tiger Kenpo System.

Zoran Sevic will not only teach the strikes of both, but will hand you the concepts and principles that can be used to improve the power of all your striking. Regardless of your style or system.

Open to all styles and systems. You do not need to be kenpo to learn this. Don’t miss the fun.
